Once you decide what genre you are going to use, it is time to decide on your main characters. The sub characters generally will come as you get started.
The main character is the one that you will build all other characters around. If it is a ROMANCE this is the character that will have all the love problems and eventually find true love. If it is a MYSTERY, this is the character that gets involved in the mystery whether it is through a chance encounter or threw the character's profession or an acquaintance.
